1941 horror classic The Wolf Man gets a chilling reboot in director Leigh Whannell's (2020's The Invisible Man) Wolf Man.

Christopher Abbott (Sanctuary, Poor Things) stars as the titular Wolf Man — but before he undergoes his horrific transformation, he's just San Francisco family man Blake. Blake inherits his childhood home in rural Oregon after his father goes missing and is presumed dead. When he takes his wife Charlotte (Julia Garner — Apartment 7A, Inventing Anna) and his daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth) to visit the property, they're attacked by an unseen animal — or monster? — and are forced to hole up in the house as their attacker draws ever closer.

But that's not all this family has to worry about. Blake's injuries at the hands of this unknown beast have left him infected and on the brink of metamorphosis. Check out the full trailer to see the beginnings of his gnarly transformation (and a particularly spooky truck-based jump scare).

The Wolf Man hits theaters Jan. 17.
