We're in the part of the U.S. presidential election campaign that Jon Stewart has dubbed the "fever dream" portion, with Kamala Harris doing events with Liz Cheney and Donald Trump posing for a publicity stunt at a McDonald's in battleground state Pennsylvania.

"Give him the job," says a desperate Stewart in the Daily Show clip above. "I implore you. I don't care if his references don't shake out. Save democracy, give him the job."

Stewart goes on to play some footage of Trump at the fries station, telling someone through the drive-in window that he used to think "somebody stuffed them in with their hand" before seeing what really happens.

"For decades that you've been eating in McDonald's you thought the fries come out of the boiling oil and the workers, making that sweet, sweet $4.25 an hour, just reach in and go ahhhhhhh?" says Stewart. "Oh god, someone order ice cream."
